Renaissance Capital appoints Petr Molchanov as Head of Investment Banking Russia

 

Maintains focus on further strengthening of Russia IB team on the back of pronounced market revival and growing deal pipeline

Moscow, 9 October 2017 - Renaissance Capital, a leading emerging and frontier markets investment bank, today announced the appointment of Petr Molchanov as Head of Investment Banking, Russia.

Petr will be based in Moscow and report to James Friel, Global Head of Investment Banking.

Prior to joining Renaissance Capital, Mr. Molchanov served as Executive Director at VTB Capital in the Investment Banking Division, where he was in charge of client coverage and deal execution in the consumer, retail and agriculture sectors. Before this, he held senior positions at Goldman Sachs and Interros, as well as analyst roles at Deutsche Bank and Ernst & Young.

Mr. Molchanov holds a Ph. D. in Economics from Moscow State University, participated in yearlong Fox International Fellowship Program for post-graduate students at Yale University. Prior to this, he received Bachelor of Economics and Master of Management degrees, also from Moscow State University.

Mr. Molchanov joins in a period of sustainable growth for Renaissance Capital, with the Firm’s net profit having doubled year-on-year to $5.5 mn in H1 2017 and a growing pipeline of deals coming out of the country. In Russia and the CIS, Renaissance Capital has completed a number of significant deals recently, including the first rouble bond issuance of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, a $800mn 6-year Eurobond issue of Polyus Gold as well as Bank St. Petersburg and RUSAL’s follow-on offerings with a dual listing on HKSE and MOEX, among others.
